Do you love the idea of 5 cards made in 5 minutes (or less)?! I certainly do! The concept has been one that I've spent many hours online watching (sometimes hour-long) videos about. But, realistically, can we REALLY make cards in only 5 minutes? I'm thrilled to say (and believe that) the answer is "YES, We Can!"
So, here's the SECRET(s)...have your supplies prepped/ready before you sit down for your 5-minute self-challenge.
There are many ways to interpret and/or do this. Here are a few:
- Have card bases already cut and scored (ready to decorate)
- Pre-print and/or Pre-die cut sentiments, ephemera, and other items you'd like to use on your card
- Use pretty patterned paper or cardstock with pre-printed scenes
- Ink up your own backgrounds, using stamps, a gel press, stencils, etc.
- Use up your scraps to create ready-to-go backgrounds
- Be organized (aka be able to FIND what you need quickly!)
To prove that making “5 cards in 5 minutes” was possible, I accepted the challenge to prove it. By God's design, I needed to make several "We care" cards...so this was a great time to try this out! I'd ordered some pre-printed card bases and envelopes that were on sale from Stampin’ Up. I thought these scenes were just beautiful and knew that I could easily (and quickly) turn them into cards that I'd be proud to send.
I used the “Color My Life” app to find just the right sentiment/stamp set. I still have many stamp sets to add to this app, but I absolutely LOVE typing in a word, picking the set I want, seeing where it’s located (self-labels), and reaching for it…no stress or wasted time! WOW, what a game-changer this is! (It makes it super easy to put away too.) I selected a Gina K Designs sentiments stamp set for the outside and inside of the card; used my MISTI to stamp on 5 cards quickly...added some bling. And, done!
Admittedly, I did take more time to write messages on the inside of the cards to each recipient and took time to address and stamp the envelopes. But, they’re in the mail today!
If you’re stuck on where to start, just begin by cutting your cardstock. Make some ready-to-decorate card bases first. Make some sentiments to have on hand. Or…if you aren’t in the mood to create, try organizing first! This often inspires me because I get to see all the pretty things and get excited to use them all over again! Meanwhile, remember that the thought counts…but actions speak louder than words. Even if it’s just a hand-written note on a piece of scrap paper, share your love and thoughts with handmade kindness…one note/day/act of kindness at a time.
